I'm sorry...but I don't really have much sympathy for teachers in NJ right now. They are freaking out over a budget deal that will FREEZE, not cut, their pay. I really don't think that they deserve another raise. I mean, seriously? They already get cheap health insurance, a zillion days off a year, plus a good salary every year.
Maybe, they should show the teachers how much it actually costs to insure their group, and then maybe the teachers won't be so quick to ask for a raise.
I don't pretend to know how hard teachers have it, but it's not like you took the job for the money. If you don't like it, find something else to do. I know it's harsh, but...I am tired of hearing about all these "people" who actually HAVE a good paying, stable job, complaining about it.
Suck it up, and go to work. At least you have a job. There are MILLIONS of us out there that can't even find work as a cashier, because we have too much "experience". Yet, when we try to get a job in the "real" world, we're told that "sorry, you don't have a degree", and there's no way we're going to hire someone who didn't prove they were smart by spending 25k on a degree.
Suck it up.
Deal with the fact that you will not be getting a cost of living+ raise this year.
My husband, who fixes things for a living, hasn't gotten a raise in 2 years. (His boss just bought a beach house though.) Don't cry poor when you have a nice roof over your head, good food on the table, and don't have to worry about seeing the doctor without health insurance. I don't want to hear it. I have no sympathy for you, and I don't think that there's much of anything you could say that would change my mind.
Get your PhD, and teach at a college. Go to a private school. Just quit your bitching.
